NEW business is the lifeblood of the economy.
While established businesses can adapt to changing economic climates, new businesses are often vulnerable to changing conditions.
Yet without new players coming to the table industry cannot grow and thrive.
Nominees and finalists already selected in other categories of the Evening Courier Business Awards have already demonstrated how new business is critical. Most have grown from small beginnings.
That is why the Business Awards are recognising the efforts of those who have taken the risk and started their own venture.
Riley and Co is sponsoring the New Business Award, alongside solicitors Chadwick Lawrence, who are sponsors of the overall awards.
As accountants, they know how important those early stages are and how vital these companies are to the economy.
We are looking for a business that is less than two years old, can demonstrate sound and thorough research of its market before embarking on its project and has a carefully mapped out plan to maintain growth and development.
It must also have a clear business strategy; be able to demonstrate a willingness to take and listen to proven advice; provide evidence of innovative thinking and a clear understanding of the needs of a growing business.
