A VIP family day at Shay!
Ravenstone Drive Greetland
On April 15 you published a letter from N Raven about a family outing to the Shay.
My son was lucky enough to be mascot on Saturday, April 18, and our experience could not have been more different.
At 10 he has been a supporter now for seven years and is not interested in following any club other than his local team.
From the moment we arrived he was made to feel like a VIP.
In fact, the organisation at the Shay would put many league clubs to shame.
We watched the match from the stand and, although there was a little bad language, I feel perhaps the previous letter did get things out of proportion. In fact, there seemed to be quite a lot of families there.
Sadly it is all too easy to support a Premiere League club these days and I feel the people of Halifax are missing a trick.
My nephew who is a Man-chester United fan also came to the game and was thrilled at how close to the action he got.
Now is the time to get behind your local club. When they eventually make the big time (as my son assures me they will) wouldn't you want to be able to say you had been with them all along?
We had a fantastic day out on Saturday and would urge you to get along to the Shay and give FC Halifax Town your much needed support.
Who knows, you may even enjoy yourself!
