Green's arrest shows we are becoming dictatorship
Woodlands Avenue, Queensbury As unaccustomed as I am to defending Tory MPs, I feel I must speak out about the arrest of Damian Green, who was apparently held for nine hours and his homes and offices searched by counter terrorism officers.
The police were investigating a series of Home Office leaks which are thought to include information that proves the Home Secretary knew that the Security Industry Authority had granted licences to 5,000 illegal workers, but decided not to publicise it, information that an illegal immigrant had been employed as a cleaner at the House Of Commons and a Whips list of potential Labour MPs who planned to rebel on 42-day pre-charge detention.
I personally do not think this is particularly sensitive information, and would suggest it is in the public interest.
I would also question whether the police need to utilise nine counter terrorist officers when I'm sure they could actually be countering terrorism instead.
Obviously the government deny any knowledge of this, although this whole situation has the stench of the Neo-Labour party at work.
If this is how the Neo-Labour party operates, then we are even closer to a dictatorship than even I thought.
