So what happened to Shay plan?
Chapel Lane, Sowerby Bridge.
I AM concerned that the end of June is approaching with no movement yet on the completion of the Shay, as promised on several occasions by Calderdale Council.
I remember the rousing story when the council's new chief executive was installed, saying the completion of the Shay was among his priorities. Surely he is not going to do a U-turn so soon in to his new role?
My concern is that the council will take the unfortunate demise of Halifax Town as an excuse to renege on promises made. I sincerely hope I am wrong, as whichever league Halifax Town is to play in, it will still need a ground to play on.
Oh, and has everyone forgotten Halifax RLFC? Are Fax no longer important?
In the current central Govern- ment-led climate of addressing social and community needs, together with the healthy lifestyle messages emanating from Westminster all the time, a local sporting facility for the community, for use by both professional and amateur sports and other groups, is a necessity for the 21st century.
We in Calderdale have a good chance of achieving that with the Shay – unless someone out there knows different.
(Mrs) P. Taylor
