We should show mercy to animals
Norfolk Place, Halifax. IT has been asserted that hunting with hounds is not cruel. But may I say that we are human beings capable of mercy and compassion.
Where are these qualities when we see an exhausted animal fleeing desperately for its life and actually naming it sport?
The Burns Report did make the observation that hunting "seriously compromises the welfare of the fox" (or other hunted animal).
We also have evidence in the same report that foxes are encouraged to breed and artificial earths exist for that purpose.
