Who will replace the circus ringmaster?

Shaw Street Holywell Green The latest rumours are circulating that the Circus Ringmaster which represents this Labour Government is stepping down before the oncoming General Election.

One begins to wonder which of the supporting acts from Brown's entourage will be stepping up to take over as the new Ringmaster. Will it be the Prince of Darkness, the man of mystery who, by all accounts, is ready to pick up the whip and top hat the moment Gordon does his disappearing act?

Could it be Harriet, the bare- back rider and trapeze artist being thrown from catchers, Mammoth Straw Jack or former satchel man Alan or even the man lurking in the background with brush and shovel, Pontefract man Balls?

All these clowns would no doubt be willing to throw their hats in the ring should the Ring- master relinquish his post but whoever is elected for this exalted position will surely fall into the sawdust in the day of reckoning. As for the Old Ringmaster, top hat and redcoat, he will eventually appear once again in the dress circle and the new title will be Lord of Kirkcaldy, an honour bestowed once again on a failed politician.
