A view of the galaxy
A KEEN-eyed Courier reader took this amazing picture using the latest digital technology.
Ian Megson, of Wyke, photographed a galaxy in the constellation of Andromeda, technically known as Messier object M31.
He captured the dramatic shot of the galaxy, 2.5million light years away, from his back garden, using a Canon digital SLR camera, attached to a Sigma 70mm aperture, 300mm focal length lens.
Mr Megson, a retired television technician, said: "I took numerous three minute exposures. I then used Registax and Adobe Photoshop software to "stack" the images together. Further adjustments in picture processing software produced the result."
