It is great news that Pellon is going to get its community centre back after the building has been closed for more than two years.
And it is returning in fine form in a blaze of glory with appearances at the re-opening next month by the Mayor and a TV soap star.

It is an event worth celebrating. We all bemoan the loss of community spirit and it is true that modern lifestyles are partly to blame for the cultural changes in our towns and villages.

But bricks and mortar contribute to village life too.

If we shut down the post offices, pubs and community centres people will not have communal buildings to go to.

So well done to the councillor who campaigned for this and well done to the council cabinet and Action Halifax for making it happen.

All that is now needed is for the local action committee to make it a success and a worthwhile venture.

And that rests with the people of Pellon. Over to you.
