Improved roads is the answer
From wonky houses to an automated underground car park, is there any limit to the wondrous ideas being conjured up for Hebden Bridge?
Both featured in plans unveiled earlier this month by a firm of architects from the town.
They presented detailed drawings for a proposed £10 million development, including 24 apartments and 24 houses, seemingly in the style of world-renowned architect Antoni Gaudi.
Now details of the shelf stacking-style car park have emerged.
No more driving round town getting infuriated as you search for a space. No more bumps and scrapes after shoehorning your vehicle into an awkward gap.
The 48-space car park would be similar to ones used in cities across the world.
"It operates like a shelf-stacking system, using a combination of lift and shuttle mechanisms to park and retrieve cars automatically for owners in minutes," says one of the architects.
In all the development aims to provide 160 car parking spaces, 110 of which will be for public use.
It all sounds very green, discreet and in keeping with Hebden Bridge's image as a fiercely environmentally aware community.
However, as exciting as these plans are they still do not address the real reason its growth has remained stunted despite a rising popularity.
Until its road system is improved attracting increased numbers of people can lead to only one eventuality. Gridlock.
