New schools will inspire learning

Calderdale Council is seeking £40 million from the Government to rebuild Calder and Todmorden High schools.
These two teaching establishments, constructed in the 1950s, are well past their best and need to be replaced.
Of course the application for money from the Building Schools for the Future budget may not be successful.
But, as they say, fortune favours the brave and a rebuilding programme on this scale would not only be a massive boost to the two schools but to the local economy too.
At the same time there are proposals to rebuild and remodel Rastrick High and Crossley Heath too.
These are tough times for everyone, not least the construction industry where housebuilding has come to a juddering halt. Any new work would be welcome.
Most of all, though, new facilities would undoubtedly inspire greater academic achievment.
And give everyone an even greater sense of purpose.
