Raiders sink to a new low

Few words suitable for a family newspaper are adequate to describe those who would rob and vandalise a charity shop.
Just 12 weeks ago a local branch of Colt which raises funds to support people who are battling drug, alcohol or gambling addictions opened in Cow Green, Halifax.
In the short time since, it has had its windows put through twice and on another occasion a thief distracted a shopworker before relieving the till of £75.
On one level its is puzzling why thieves would target shops that, by their very nature, might have less to take than, say, a high street store.
Only earlier this year there was a spate of similar incidents at charity shops in Sowerby Bridge.
Could it be that these premises are seen as soft targets by thieves?
Whatever the answer, this kind of crime is despicable and an affront to decent people who dedicate their efforts to helping those less fortunate.
Stealing is a loathsome crime. Stealing from a charity, the lowest of the low.
