The national news headlines may paint a bleak economic outlook for Britain.
But as the worst excesses of the credit crunch are felt, plenty of businesses continue to buck the trend, make profit and grow.

The problem for these businesses, particularly small ones, is how to sustain growth or enter new markets at times of uncertainty.

Yorkshire Forward, the region's development agency, points local businesses towards several million pounds it has available to help.

A special fund to help businesses looking for loans from £3,000 to £1.5 million which has so far assisted 440 small and medium-sized firms with gap funding, from the smallest one- man bands to major employers.
