Calderdale Council has decided to turn down plans to incorporate a wind turbine that would help provide renewable energy for the new Brighouse bus station.
The plan has foundered because it would be incongruous in the townscape, an eyesore and too close to the Ludenscheid Way.

Yet the same council has allowed supermarkets into town with neon lights, glass and metal.

Which raises questions about double standards.

Until the grain silos at Sugdens are demolished, it is unlikely the turbine would dominate the skylike like these two buildings.

Metro is now considering its options. It is commited to reducing its carbon footprint.

Circumstances dictate in Brighouse that it might only be by a size or two.
