THE man they call the "Liberace of floral art", Andrew Grisewood, brings his latest show to Calderdale later this month.
And anyone who is into a bit of glamour, gossip and floral genius needs to be there.

Yorkshire-born Andrew is an international floral designer and showman whose flamboyant performances have fans glued to their seats. He does things with flowers you wouldn't dream possible, in the most showbiz of ways.

Think flashing lights, music, lots of crystals and jewels and the low down on many of his high-profile friends. Then there's the man himself in all his glory. French manicured nails, lipgloss and handmade shirts that wouldn't look out of place on one of the Strictly Come Dancing contestants.

Andrew, who has been into flowers for the past 25 years, brings his new spring/summer show to Berties Banqueting Suit, Elland, on Wednes-day, April 16.

The Spring Time Soiree of Fine Foods and Flowers has been organised by Barbara Elliott and Pam Dunn, "friends" of the Calderdale Music Service.

The service's Youth Ensemble is going to Perth, Australia, in August to take part in an International Music Festival and will also tour schools and perform at other events. The group of 36 have paid for the trip themselves, but the Berties evening will raise funds so they can take part in activities such as mountain biking and trekking while they are out there.

A two-course supper will be followed by Andrew's show and up to 200 tickets, priced at £22.50 each, are on sale. Barbara who has seen Andrew in action many times before says it's an evening not to be missed. "He's entertaining with a capital E and a maestro of floral art. It promises to be an unforgetful evening."

Andrew, who does around 50 shows a year, travels the world looking for unusual flowers and artifacts (he uses a lot of Swarkovski crystals in his displays) and his work is often seen at society weddings and stately homes.

Tickets for the Berties event can be booked through the Calderdale Music Service on 01422 394194.
