Health and Beauty: 10 years younger – without going under the knife

It's taken the Americans more than five years to perfect their latest anti-ageing products and facial. But it's been worth the wait....
LIKE most women, Calderdale beauty therapist Fiona McCall is a big fan of Channel 4's beauty programme 10 Years Younger.
The 24-year-old, who has run her own business for the past six years, says its unbelievable how Nicky Hambleton-Jones and her team transform so many ordinary females and make them look stunning.
Fiona, who lives in Brighouse, believes the makeovers inspire thousands of female viewers to hold back the years, but most either don't have the resources or want to be so drastic and go under the knife.
As far as she is concerned, most of us can look younger by following a few simple rules and looking after our skin, at home and with regular salon treatments.
The salon treatment that Fiona and the beauty pack in Britain are going mad for at the moment comes from American firm Dermalogica. The company has been successfully looking after younger skin for years but had a problem. Its loyal fanbase was growing up and their skin was starting to lose a little elasticity.
They found the skincare brand that served them so well in their younger years was not cutting the mustard in their 30s and 40s.
So Dermalogica turned its attention to a range with anti-ageing ingredients. It's called AGE Smart and has become its fastest-selling range ever. The products contain wonder ingredients that work to beat up free radicals (the skin's number one enemy), rehydrate the skin and aid the production of collagen, as well as treat hyper-pigmentation and broken capillaries.
Where AGE Smart differs from other "anti-ageing" products is that instead of helping to minimise the appearance of wrinkles, it treats skin ageing at the source by addressing the actual biochemical reactions that trigger those changes. The science behind it may be a bit baffling, but the results speak for themselves. The internet is full of testimonials saying how the products really do work, and beauty magazines say the innovative range is the best thing for years.
As well as products to use at home there is an AGE Smart facial, which I would highly recommend to anyone who needs a quick skin boost.
The hour-long treatment is the most powerful facial on the market and has been hailed the ultimate therapy for prematurely ageing, mature or devitalised skin.
"It smoothes, nourishes, regenerates and energises skin while controlling the biochemical triggers than lead to skin ageing and you can see a massive difference after just one treatment," says Fiona, who opened Radiance Beauty, within the Nikki Collins Hair Company, at Square Road, Halifax, four months ago.
The facial includes a hydroxy acid peel, energising massage techniques to release facial tension, and a multi-vitamin power pack to repair and stimulate production of collagen and elastin and smooth the skin's texture.
Fiona says it is ideal for anyone over 30 and brilliant before a summer holiday. She has got it on special offer until the end of August for £30 (instead of £37).
Anyone who books a course of three for £100, will receive a free home-care pack worth £35.
