We are all tightening our belts at the moment. But that doesn't mean beauty conscious girls can't still enjoy a bit of luxury.....
IF you believe everything that is being said it looks like we are in for a long haul on the credit crunch front.
But, as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. Dozens of businesses are coming up with enterprising ideas to help fashion and beauty conscious women still look the part in these trying times.
And one of them is beauty therapist Jamiee Adshead. The 22-year-old has come up with a credit crunch beauty day to put a smile back on the face of females feeling anxious or depressed by the world economy.
Her day, on Wednesday, November 12 offers women the change to chill out and experience a bit of luxury for £20. Clients can look forward to an express facial, a nail file and polish or a mini pedicure and the chance to relax with friends over a glass of Champagne.
"Most women have a difficult enough time as it is at this time of year with Christmas looming and with the credit crunch it's just more doom and gloom. I wanted to cheer them up and offer them a bit of luxury at a price that most of us can afford," says Jamiee who used to work as a Chanel make-up artist on the QE2 but now runs her own beauty salon, Adsheads in Coronation Road, Halifax, and got married last month.
She introduced the relatively new company, BeautyLab to Calderdale some months ago. The British company offers a range of skincare products and beauty treatments that are used by lots of celebrities and have been featured in numerous magazines and daily newspapers.
Most of the products contain collagen boosting and anti-ageing peptides and skin smoothing enzymes that leave it looking brighter, fresher and younger.
The express facial features all the company's top selling products and calms, balances and hydrates skin. "It's a brilliant facial for anyone who needs an instant pick-me-up, say in their lunch hour. And because it is hydrating, it is ideal for this time of year when the weather and central heating dries skin out so much," says Jamiee.
The facial, which normally costs £29, lasts 45 minutes and includes a cleanse, exfoliation, mask and massage. "I wanted to introduce BeautyLab products and treatments to local women and felt this was a great way of doing it. I'm hoping groups of friends will book in and in-between treatments they can catch up in my chill-out room. If the day proves popular I plan to organise similar ones in the run up to Christmas," she says.
Her credit crunch day is from 10am to 9pm and bookings are essential. Women can also indulge themselves in other treatments on the day, including self tanning.
Jamiee offers both BeautyLab and Sun Junkie self tans. The BeautyLab self-tan is the one everyone is taking about because it contains peptides, so as well as giving you a tan, holds back the years at the same time.
Jamiee has also started doing Sparkle Parties for six to 12-year-olds. They include make-up and nails, nibbles and drinks, a chocolate fountain and a goody bag. They cost £15 a head.
Anyone who would like details of the credit crunch day can ring Jamiee on 01422 322198.
