THE Supreme Pony of the Year at one of the country's leading events was born and bred in Calderdale.
The spotlight was on Mini Show Pony Chagford Lewis, as judges at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show placed him in the top slot.
And no one was cheering more than his breeders at the Chagford Stud in Sowerby Bridge.
Jayne Lee runs the stud with her mother and Tracy.
"If we'd won the lottery we couldn't be happier," said Jayne.
Mum Susan and stepfather Tracy Potter made the journey to Birmingham NEC to watch Lewis, as he is known at home, in action.
"We had a great day," said Mrs Potter. "We stayed for all the performances and it was electric when he came into the spotlight."
The 12hh bay gelding was born at the stud, which specialises in show ponies, part-bred and full-bred native ponies. It is run as team effort with Jayne, who also works as an administrator, Susan, who is also a self-employed machinist and Tracy who runs Pheonix Services fitting the horses around work.
His dam, a pure-bred Dartmoor show pony, Wendel Leonne, belongs to the stud and his sire is the champion pony stallion Lechlade Quince.
The team currently have his full brother Chagford Leon, who they also have high hopes for.
"We work long days at the stud as we all have other jobs as well," said Jayne who works as an administrator.
"We do it all ourselves and have about 20 horses at the moment."
The ponies start their career with the Chagford team and like Lewis will go on to new homes when they are ready to start ridden classes.
Lewis's home is now in Staffordshire and it was with his five-year-old jockey Poppy Marie Carter that he won the title and the Timberwolf Trophy.
It is the icing on the cake for the team at Chagford.
"Mum's ambition was always to win at the Great Yorkshire Show. She did that last year in the Lead Rein Pony breeding class. This is just brilliant."
