EVENTING has never been so glamorous.
A supermodel, a lord and the acerbic judge of a reality tv show, will be taking part in the new Express Eventing Cup next Sunday.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Philips will be taking part with Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber also sitting on the judging panel.

The Express Cup, run in associatoin with British Eventing, is the first time a three day event has been condensed into half a day and it is hoping to do for eventing, what Twenty20 has for cricket.

Arlene Phillips and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, famous for working with the very best musical and dance talents on the stage and screen, will critique the dressage to music section.

They will be joining international dressage judges Jennie Loriston-Clarke, Isobel Wessels, Frances Verbeek and Andrew Gardner.

Polo rider and supermodel Jodie Kidd has been signed up to take part in a charity jump-off. She'll be riding against society girl Tara Palmer-Tomkinson in their own show-jumping competition.

The pair will be tackling the fences for the show jumping phase of the overall event which includes Olympians Mary King, William Fox-Pitt and individual bronze medallist Tina Cook.

Taking a break from her Strictly Come Dancing training, Jodie Kidd said she was really looking forward to the day. "I love riding and think it will be great fun to compete against Tara."

Tara, who has ridden since she was a child, said she may not be quite as experienced as Jodie but came from a fearless family.

The Express Eventing International Cup takes place at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff next Sunday. Tickets start at £35 for adults and £17.50 for children. For more information call 08705 582582.
