MAKING the most of the fine weather, riding club members enjoyed a day on the beach.
The annual 'Beach Gallop' saw members of Pole Moor Riding Club racing on the sands and splashing in the sea at Lytham St Annes.

Club member Maz Bradley said it had been a fantastic day with brilliant sunshine.

Seventeen club members and their horses travelled to the large expanse of quiet, horse friendly sand just outside Blackpool

"What a wonderful day it was," said Mrs Bradley. "The horses sensed our excitement and couldn't believe the wide open space before their eyes when they were unloaded from the trailers.

"They did not need much encouragement for a few flat-out gallops. Then we waded in the sea which the horses really enjoyed, splashing and pawing the waves. Some were even trying to roll.

"Everyone agreed it was one of the best rides of the year and we can't wait until next time."

  • The club's harvest auction raised £425 for the Laura Crane Trust and Brooke Animal charity. The auction was held at the Rose and Crown, Cop Hill, Slaithwaite, with Nicky Black auctioneering.
