CLAIRE Petulengro, one of Britain's most popular and well-known astro-logers and clairvoyants, barely needs any introduction.
After all you only have to pick up a glossy magazine or national newspaper to see the glamorous blonde smiling out from the top of her horoscopes column.
Claire is the regular astrologer for Company and Pick Me Up magazines, her column is syndicated to more than 100 other publications and in the last couple of weeks she has signed a deal with The People newspaper as astrologer for their Take It Easy magazine.
She has a string of top celebrity clients – some of whom regularly fly her out to their US homes to help them make up their mind about potentially life-changing decisions; should they accept the Hollywood role on offer, perhaps?
And on top of all this she has just published another book, Life Signs, which promises to be a bestseller.
But Claire, 37, also has another role, the one perhaps of which she is most proud. She is an everyday Calderdale mum to four gorgeous children.
Claire, who moved to Lightcliffe about a year and half ago, could quite easily be dubbed a "superwoman" but none of her busy life and career would be possible, she insists, without the support of husband Nick Ledgard who she describes as "superdaddy".
"The book especially would not have come about if I didn't have a husband who does night feeds, school runs, nappies, washing-up and vacuuming while still paying me compliments", says Claire.
As a result, she dedicates the book – a guide to how the stars can steer us to success – to Nick, who she met while trekking in China.
"I am a big walker and I felt I had to be part of this particular trip but had to fly out later than the others. As a result Nick met me and we hit it off straight away. I was very impressed because he remembered the colour of my eyes seconds after meeting me, when my back was turned. I'm a Scorpio and he's an Aquarius, so we compliment each other," she says.
The book is also dedicated to their children – son Paris, eight, and daughters Carmen, five, Lucy, 21 months and new arrival Honey, three months old.
"I am very excited that Honey is a Scorpio like me because, along with Pisces, they are the two most psychic signs of the zodiac", says Claire who cannot remember a time when she didn't have "the gift".
"I never became aware of it. I just became aware that others weren't like me," says Claire, a member of the famous Petulengro Romany gipsy family.
Her mother Eva is also a well-known astrologer and clairvoyant, having nurtured a huge celebrity following in her time and Claire's grandmother, also called Eva, was also a famous clairvoyant.
Another revered member of the family is her uncle, Leo, who has been responsible for the artwork in Claire's book.
Claire talks of her family's Brighton connections where her grandmother and mother had businesses on the seaside town's famous pier, being consulted by thousands of clients in their day.
She was just 15 when she started giving readings, taking over when her grandmother became ill.
"I dipped out of school to start giving readings and there was one occasion when the truant officers came to the house to question my mum.
"They ended up being her clients and going to her for readings", she laughs.
"My mother's background was fascinating. She grew up in a Romany caravan, not living in bricks and mortar until her 20s. She was regularly flown out to Los Angeles by her clients and I'd go with her."
Her mum's clients included names such as The Beatles, Michael Caine, Michael Craw-ford and Joan Collins.
Claire now finds history repeating itself – but she remains discreet about those who consult her.
"It wouldn't be fair to say who they were but I'm often on a plane to the US. Someone might be having doubts about a film role. They know in their hearts what they want to do, they just want me to confirm it is the right decision.
"That's what you find with ordinary people, who often turn out to lead far more interesting lives than the stars," she says.
"I think most people have a gut instinct about things and they should follow it."
Her new book has been written as a kind of self-help guide, which she hopes will help people cope with the tough times ahead.
"In the present climate people need a bit more direction and I hope this book will provide it. A big concern for people is their finances and my advice – no matter what your star sign – is good communication. When that breaks down other problems arise.
"A positive is that people will start to appreciate what they have more than before. The simple pleasures of life will be rediscovered."
Claire says she's confident her own children have inherited her gift and will encourage them to follow her if they want.
She also reveals how the family love their new home, choosing Lightcliffe because Nick is originally from Norwood Green.
"People are so friendly here, especially the other mums. I can't say if we'll stay forever though because we feel drawn to living abroad at some point," she says.
"We'll have to see what the future holds," she says.
