Please could I ask for your help regarding my mother, Lena Tye, who is 88 and lives in a care home.

She has dementia and remembers very little, but does remember gain- ing a scholarship at Holywell Green School to go to Elland Gram-mar School, and that her name was in gold letters on a board at Holywell Green.

Her name then was Lena Mayes, born Jan-uary 7, 1920. I have contacted both schools and the education arch- ives but have not been able to trace anything.

I wonder if any of your readers remember what happened to the board or evidence of the scholarships. I think the year would be 1931.
