I AM a student of history and politics at Huddersfield University. I wonder if any of your readers have any information about socialist Sunday schools.

These Sunday schools were formed in the late 19th century and most stopped meeting but I understand that there was a socialist Sunday school until quite recently in Halifax.

The Sunday schools sang socialist songs and had a socialist Ten Commandments.

Number four was "Honour all good men, be courteous to all men, bow down to none."

I understand that the last Sunday school was run by a person called Lister, not to be confused with John Lister, the last owner of Shib-den Hall.

Could anyone with any information about socialist Sunday schools please contact me?
