Crow Nest Park Golf Club, Hove Edge hosted the second Annual Avanti Golf Pro-Am which, according to Jimmy Pape of the Yorks PGA, is their best event of the year.
Golf professionals from around West Yorkshire decended upon the picturesque nine-hole course in their bid to win the substantial prize money.
In addition local amateur golfers formed teams which included a professional for the four-man team competition.
Conditions on the day were clam and humid and professionals and amateurs alike revelled in the conditions.
The Professional Competition was won by Lee Shepherd (Willow Valley G C ) who shot a score of 67. He won the £700 first prize on a countback from local Europro Tour player and rising star, Chris Hanson who play out of Crosland Heath.
It was testament to the competition and the excellent organisation that the event managed to attract such a quality field of professionals.
The team event was hard fought and the current club captains team proved too strong for the rest of the field of 20 teams. With a score of 19 under par they won by two shots. The winning team consisted of Martin Broadbent (Captain CNPGC), Tom Broadbent, Martin Henry and pro Mike Ingham (Cleckheaton GC).
Greenkeeper Mark Widdop, celebrated a hole in one at the fifth with the obligatory bottle of whiskey.
In his acceptance speech Hanson said that, in his opinion, "Crow Nest Park Golf Club was the best nine hole golf course in England."
Other scores and prizes: 2nd - D.May, D Lax, B Adamson, M Marsh 17 under par; 3rd - S.Smith, L Holmes, J Graham, TDenby 16 under par 4th - K Carr, J Fitzpatrick, S McDermott, L Shepherd 14 under par; 5th - D Lambert, M Ozanne, R Langley-Webb, A Wainwright 11 under par.
