AN EXCELLENT 36 point Stableford score in testing conditions was enough to land Carole Hampson and Jayne Saunders first place at Crow Nest Park GC's annual Ladies Open.
A healthy field of 56 competitors took part in the competition on a day when conditions were damp at the start and remained difficult due to a prevailing south westerly wind got stronger as the day progressed.
Playing off three quarters handicap,
home player Hampson and Halifax GC member Saunders had a four shot winning margin over runners up Stephanie Binns and Jane Walker.
Crow Nest Park Lady Captain Pam Hollingworth thanked all the competitors and congratulated the winners after a very successful event.
The men's section at Crow Nest Park have also been in action and hosted their Golden Jubilee Pairs event, a 27 hole competition comprising of nine holes Betterball, nine holes Greensomes and nine holes foursomes.
Narrow winners were Rob Gee and James Burke who shot eight under par to win on a countback from Ben Adamson and junior captain Danny Lax.
Club captain Raj Panesar paid tribute to the winners and said this competition was probably the most difficult in the Hove Edge club's calendar, and he also singled out Michael Walton and his competitions committee for organising the event.
Crow Nest Park will also be hosting a Scratch Open for the Everitt Cup, which will be held on Thursday, August 28.
There will be prizes up to fifth place, and a nearest the pin and longest drive prize.
