ONE of the annual highlights of the local golfing calendar is Halifax GC's hugely popular 'Ogden Week.'
And this year's event, which commences a week on Saturday, May 31, promises to be as exciting as ever as it as usual offers the chance to play this fine moorland course at competitive prices in an attractive range of competitions.
As is the case e
ach year, the high point of the week's events is the Gents' Ogden Cup, a 36 hole open event which brings the curtain down on the week on Saturday, June 7.
Admission is limited to the top 90 entrants and so it is imperative that golfers wishing to take part put in their entry quickly, and the closing date for Ogden Cup entries is Saturday, May 24.
All the other events can be entered until much closer to the day, though Halifax GC Handicap and Competition Director Geoff Rigby said the club would prefer entries sooner rather than later.
Of particular note is the junior event which is open to boys and girls and will be held on Sunday morning, June 1. The fee to enter this is just £5.
Entries for this and all events can be made by calling the club professional David Delaney on 01422 240047 or submitting an entry form to him at the Ogden course.
All the information on Ogden Week can be accessed on the club's website at http://www.halifaxgolfclub.co.uk.
