ONE of the most memorable weeks in Crow Nest Park GC's short history culminated in a hugely successful Rabbit Captain's Day on Saturday.
Just two days earlier, Rabbit Captain Tony Hereford and team mates Peter Horrocks, John Cryer and David Hawkesworth had carried off the Halifax, Huddersfield & District Rabbit Association President's Trophy, the first time the Hove Edge club have lan
ded that honour.

It was a fine effort by all concerned and was made especially memorable by the fact that the trophy was presented by Crow Nest Club President John Turner, who is also President of the Association.

That set things up nicely for the Rabbit Captain's Day when intermittent showers did nothing to dampen the spirits of all the competitors in the ladies, juniors and men's competitions, all of which were closely contested.

And they day was particularly memorable for junior Ryan Jones, who holed in one on the par three eighth, making it an expensive day for his father and committee member Steve, who in line with tradition provided drinks at the '19th hole' for all the members present.

"Winning the Championship is a very proud achievement for the club and it has been a truly remarkable week," said Hereford, a former Royal Navy seaman now based in Rastrick at the prize presentation afterwards.

He went on to thank all those who had helped on the day and all those who had taken part.
