WILLOW Valley's Lee Shepherd has thanked his club professional Julian Haworth after he clinched a fine victory in the MEN Open regional qualfier at Slaley Hall, Northumberland last week.
Shepherd shot a three under par 69 to finish at the head of the 41 man field by two clear shots from Phil Kelly of St Annes Old Links and Tyneside's Gary Vickers.
The course was wet and playing long, but Shepherd said that following recent coaching by Haworth, he was confident in his swing and played steadily throughout.
He carded five birdies and one bogey and hit 15 greens in regulation in a very solid round which qualfies him to play in October's MEN Open.
LEE Shepherd's willow Valley colleague Darren Rands is running a set of group golf lessons for ladies starting on Wednesday, May 7 from 7pm-8pm.
This is an eight week course and the cost is £35. Call Willow Valley on 01274 878624 if you require further information.
