LIGHTCLIFFE'S Jane Bedford took top honours when the second meeting of the Huddersfield, Halifax and District Ladies' Association Winter League took place at Elland Golf Club.
She had a score of 33.5 nett for the nine hole individual medley competition.

Crow Nest Park's Carol Hampson won the best gross prize with 44.

Seventy five women took part on a cool, overcast day. There was enough wind to ensure Elland's centenary flag, put up the day before, fluttered proudly.

The next event is at Ogden on Wednesday, February 24 and a further meeting is planned for Bradley Hall in March.

Prior to the Elland event the only other meeting this winter had been at Crosland Heath in October. The event planned for Todmorden in November had to be cancelled due to persistent rain.

Meanwhile, Elland will launch their centenary year with a lunch for members at the club on Sunday.

OTHER LEADING SCORES: S.Terry (Ogden) 34.5 nett; P.Hand (Ryburn) 35.5 nett; J.Armitage (Crosland Heath) 36.5; E.Uttley (Elland) 36.5; C.Ward (Meltham) 37.
