MELTHAM made the most of home advantage to beat favourites Huddersfield and West End in Sunday's Scratch Team Championship.
They lifted the Founders Trophy for the second time in four years, having waited 60 years to win the Halifax, Huddersfield & District Union event for the first time.

Union side player Graham McLean showed the way with rounds of 70 and 74 as Meltham surged clear in the afternoon after being level with unconsidered Longley Park after the first round.

Current Union strokeplay champion Brad Tupman and matchplay champion Richard Broadley spearheaded the Fixby effort while Frank Greaves did best for West End with rounds of 75 and 72 in a rain-hit competition.

Longley Park faded to fifth in spite of having the top individual in Matthew Colcombe, with his rounds of 74 and 70. McLean took the best morning prize with Tupman collecting the low afternoon award. Only three players broke par all day.
