A VALIANT Halifax GC challenge in the final play off in the Lawrence Batley Seniors League faield by the narrowest of margins to earn victory for the Ogden side.
In the showdown against Woodsome Hall at Wortley GC, a slender one hole victory by Peter Skinner and Stephen Tomlinson in the fourth and final match hauled Halifax level at 4-4, but Woodsome Hall triumphed by virtue of a greater winning margin.

Match 1: Richard Williams & Mike Sullivan (WH) beat Gene Gerrard & Geoff Wadsworth (H) 2 & 1.

Match 2: Keith Beaumont & Steve Myers (WH) halved with David Peel & John Pickles (H).

Match 3: Jim McKie & Martin Dey (WH) halved with Derek Gerrard & John Hanson (H).

Match 4: Peter Skinner & Stephen Tomlinson (H) beat Mike Bateson & John Thomson (WH) by one hole.

Individual match play final (played at Bradley Hall):
John Holmes (Wortley) beat Gordon Hirst (Woodsome Hall) at the 19th.
