When playing in the rain, water often gets between the club face and ball at impact, greatly affecting the amount of spin generated on the ball.
This coupled with the fact that the ball is likely to skid more on the wet surface when it lands, means that it will be much more difficult to control the length.
Wet fairways also make it easier to hit fat shots. However, when it comes to a longer shot, instead of using a long iron use a lofted wood as this is more likely to skid on the surface rather than digging into the ground.
Balance will be harder to maintain in the wet so concentrate on good footing, swinging smoothly and trying to sweep the ball away off the top of the grass.
