A 100-bedroom "Plaza" hotel has now been included in the scheme for redeveloping Broad Street, Halifax.
To accommodate the building in the Broad Street Plaza – pictured – it is planned to reduce the number of apartments from 106 to 61.
The scheme also includes a cinema, shops, bowling alley and bingo hall.
Architects Sanderson Weatherall said interest shown by a hotel operator had led to the revised application.
If approved as expected in July, work could begin before Christmas.
Miller Gregory (Halifax) Ltd won the contract to redevelop the Broad Street car park in partnership with the council in 2003.
Last summer, it received outline planning approval for the Broad Street Plaza, including a 429-space car park.
