THE daughter of a Halifax Rugby League legend is set to make a splash in a reality show set on a Caribbean island.
Karen Freeman, who grew up in Wheatley, Halifax, is one of eight women who feature in When Women Rule The World, a new £2 million Channel 4 show which will will hit our screens at 9pm on September 4.

It will be hosted by T4 heartthrob Steve Jones

Karen, the daughter of Johnny Freeman, said: "The show was filmed on a Caribbean island but no one really knew what to expect.

"Before we got there we weren't told anything about where we were going to, really. I was going in blind."

The show is an eight-part battle of the sexes.

The show sends 10 chauvinistic men to live in a remote village where women rule and men obey.

Karen, 48, studied at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London then forged a West End career in the late 1970s, appearing in Bubbling Brown Sugar, 42nd Street and Eastbound Expressway.

She has even had a top 20 hit with Mirrorball called Given Up.

The song reached number 12 in 2001 and gave her the opportunity to perform it on Top of the Pops.

John, good luck to your Karen, but when I knew you ,you were a lot slimmer and had a lot more hair. Do you remember the days that you worked in the maintenance dept at the Halifax General Hospital?
But you are still looking great, good to see you.

I remember Karen from school, and she was also a star with Gloria Gaynors hit "I will survive" where Karen danced on roller skates.

Good luck with the show Karen.

I remember watching Johnny play at Thrum Hall for Halifax, when he got the ball the crowd rose as they knew something spectacular would happen; and as young players everyone wanted to be wing to emulate Johnny. Thanks Johnny for all those great hours watching you play.
