Halifax v Celtic Crusaders - Pack scrap so vital: Joe

HALIFAX'S young forward Joe Walsh has urged his pack colleagues to "muscle up" in a bid to tip the balance in tomorrow's crucial second versus third date with Celtic Crusaders at the Shay.
The Super League-bound Welsh outfit come to town having already beaten Fax twice this season and with a reputation for sharp work around the play the ball, where ball players Jace Van Dyke and Neil Budworth try to link with free-scoring full back Tony Duggan.
And Walsh, the on loan Harlequins player who produced his best performance since moving to the Shay in last weekend's 34-32 win at Batley, admitted the Crusaders will "fancy" exploiting the Shay outfit in midfield tomorrow.
"Celtic play fast round the ruck and we struggled in that area at Batley," said Walsh, the son of former Shay conditioner Steve.
"They will fancy it to be honest and we really need to muscle up and try and slow them down.
"They can struggle on the back foot, losing at Batley and Whitehaven this year, and if our forwards do the job then we certainly have the backs to go and win it.
"It's a season game, isn't it?
"Ever since I got here, everything has been about finishing second and I think we deserve it.
"Whoever wins tomorrow will have a great chance of taking it on the final weekend."
Where Walsh will feature tomorrow is open to question, with the Oldham-born player, who initially featured at prop, excelling on his back row debut against the Bulldogs.
"I got a bit of an opportunity with Mark Flanagan pulling out," said Walsh.
"I like playing back row, because I have found the middle pretty stacked in this league and Matt has spoken to me about using me a bit wider.
"I am still growing and front row is a mature position where you need some weight behind you, especially in this competition, and I am only 92 kilos.
"I was just really happy to put in a good performance for Matt and Martin Hall, because they gave me an opportunity when I wasn't really getting one at Harlequins."
