HALIFAX reserves boss Karl Fairbank has confirmed he told head coach Matt Calland he didn't want any of the club's senior players for tomorrow afternoon's First Division Grand Final showdown with Widnes at the Shay (3.0).
Fax booked home advantage in the decider with victory at Leigh a fortnight ago, a win that featured several members of Calland's top squad.
That won't be the case tomorrow though, with Fairbank planning to reward the crop of previously untried local talent who exceeded even their own expectations by finishing second at the end of the regular season.
Only one player, loose forward Andy Bowman, has a senior start under his belt.
"I told the players that if we got to the final the lads who have played all year would get a chance and Matt was happy with that," said Fairbank, whose side will feature just two players - Graham Charlesworth and Fairbank's nephew, James - over the age of 21.
"They've finished second on merit and they've improved as the season has gone on.
"Just after Christmas we only had about six players, but we looked around, asked a lot of people, and found a team from somewhere.
"I thought they would do well to make the play offs, so they have already exceeded expectations."
