Fine Art Society chooses its new officers

Halifax Decorative and Fine Art Society held its annual meeting at Square Chapel, Halifax. Officers elected were: Chairman, Alan Smith; treasurer/membership officer, Jo Woodward; secretary, Denise Ramsden; programme secretary, Susan Taylor; visits and social events organiser, Barbara Beardsworth; committee, Jenny Cobb, Peter Thomas, Nick Thomas, Patrick Bradley, Jennifer Pell, Merial Evans and Dorothy Wood. A lecture was given by Mary Acton who is an author and art/history lecturer at Oxford Uni
She spoke about John Piper and the English landscape tradition. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 8, when Alan Spedding will talk on "Medieval minstrels of Beverley."
