Andrew Gallagher chaired a meeting of Halifax Speakers' Club at the Town Hall.
The annual speech competition was judged by Chris Birch from Wharfedale Speakers' Club and Fay Fielding. Winner was Lisa Hogarth with a speech on the frustrations of modern motoring. Mrs Fielding presented the trophy to Ms Hogarth, who will compete in the Yorkshire Dales Area speech competition at Wilsden later this month. Graham Rigby chaired the topics session, which was evaluated by Margaret Usher. General evaluator was Eileen Ward from Craven Speakers' Club. The next meeting is at the same venue on November 18 at 7.45pm. New members are welcome.
