FLANKER Fraser Hall has re-iterated the call for Halifax to pull together as a team as they look to improve on a miserable start to their National Three (North) campaign.
Hall came on as a second half replacement in last saturday's 39-10 defeat at Nuneaton and produced a scintillating run to set Craig Emmerson up for Halifax's only try.
It was a rare bright moment of a difficult opening to the season, but one Hall believes will be seen more often once Rhys Morgan's side start firing as a unit
"I think the pressure is starting to build on the players themselves because we know we are perfectly capable of beating these teams," said Hall.
"And it is not through a lack of effort either. You'd be hard-pressed to find anybody coming off the pitch who isn't worn out
"But it just doesn't seem to be happening for us. We work extremely hard in training and then we go into games on a Saturday with exactly the right attitude.
"We are always positive and in good spirits. We have then found that the first 20 minutes go well but then something goes wrong and, even as a player in the game, I can't put my finger on what it is
"I know we go into every game wanting to win it, there is no doubt about that.
"There is ambition and there is pride and I think it is a question of bringing those two qualities out a bit more."
Hall was pleased with his contribution which proved that teams hate players with pace running at them.
it also sparked a brief spell where halifax controlled the ball better and took the game to their hosts.
Unfortunately they could not make it count and Nuneaton were able to run in a further converted score to complete a comfortable win
"It happens across all rugby games where something happens and a team is lifted," added Hall.
"Somebody might put a big hit in or make a really good run, cutting through a gap, or whatever.
"We have got the individual players to do that across the board. We can all play the game, but we need to play it as a team rather than a collection of individuals.
"It is there or threreabouts but it needs to be definite.
"But I, like all the players, firmly believe that getting a first win under our belts will prove a pivotal moment.
"As soon as that clicks it will have a massive knock-on effect.
"You can have the best training sessions in the world and you can work hard on a Saturday, but the bottom line is that you have to put all that energy into winning.
"No rugby player in the world will say they are happy about going out and losing matches."
While admitting everybody is starting to feel the heat, Hall added that team spirit remained strong.
"Morale is holding up pretty well under the circumstances," he said "We have played against some competent teams who have put in some good performances against us.
"There has not been any point where we haven't played some good rugby in the 80 minutes. We just have not been able to sustain it.
"It is about persevering and getting through it. There is still a solid, positive spirit and everybody is working really hard for each other
"It will be a testing couple of weeks with two home games to come against good teams but we have to be looking to get that first win."
