THE old sporting adage of taking one game at a time is something Halifax coach Rhys Morgan is concentrating on ahead of tomorrow's National Three (North) home encounter with Fylde (2.0).
Halifax have two consecutive games at Ovenden Park with Loughborough Students rolling into town the following week.

Yet while knowing that winning your home games is always a vital ingredient to any team's season, Morgan is looking no further than the visit of the west coast outfit as Halifax look to bring their disappointing four-match losing run to an end.

"We just don't want to be looking too far ahead, we have to concentrate on the immediate job in hand," said Morgan.

"We have a very tough game coming up against Fylde who have plenty of good players and have made a decent start to the season.

"These are tough times and we have to rise to the challenge and that will mean improving in a number of areas."

Halifax have yet to string a complete performance together due to a number of familiar errors hampering any hopes of making progress.

But Halifax have not always enjoyed the best of luck either and Morgan will accept any change in circumstances that will help bring about a win.

"We have a lot to put right in terms of how we approach games, ball retention, building up phases and overall attitude," he added.

"We have to do the right things in the right areas and play for 80 minutes.

"It would be great to go out there and put up a performance.

"Unfortunately, due to the start we have made, we will go into the game as massive underdogs.

"That may lift some of the pressure on the players and if the rub of the green goes in our favour as well then that would be a bonus."

Morgan seems likely to make just one change from the side that suffered a 39-10 defeat at Nuneaton last time out with Fraser Hall, who set up Craig Emmerson's second half try, coming in at blindside flanker and Richard Brown moving to take up the No8 jersey.

That means a place on the bench for hard-working forward Ian Spence, who picked up a slight knock on the knee last weekend.

Fylde will bring a familiar face in the shape of scrum half Craig Aikman, who spent a season and a half at Ovenden Park and was the club's player of the 2006/7 season before moving to Fylde in January.

They are also likely to have a famous name in the No 8 shirt with Sam Beaumont, son of legendary England lock Bill Beaumont, having made a good start to the season.
