DANNY McGee has handed Halifax a massive boost ahead of tomorrow's home National Two clash with Cambridge (3.0) by agreeing to stay at Ovenden Park for another season.
McGee had no hesitation in putting his name to a new contract having already stated that he wants to stay at the club and hopefully help to put right some of the problems that have made this campaign one to forget

Courier Sport understands around 10 players are mulling over new terms and coach Rhys Morgan is hoping that with McGee becoming the first to nail his colours to the mast that many of his colleagues will follow.

The coach has received verbal agreements from four other players and is just waiting for them to return the paperwork which he fully expects them to do at training next Tuesday.

"It is great that Danny has signed up and the signs are that there will be a few more by the end of next week," said Morgan.

"It sends out a very positive message and puts me in a decent position with regard to next season.

"Of course I can expect to have some holes to fill with lads having other commitments or moving away.

"But if by April I have 15 or 16 players signed up then that would be fantastic."

It has also been a relatively stress-free week for Morgan on the injury front with lock Richard White set to return after a shoulder injury although Dominic Moon is still missing as he is suffering from a virus.

Full back Joe Knowles also picked up a knock at Manchester but he has declared himself fit.

Morgan has still to finalise the make up of his side but expects White to slot straight into the second row alongside Lee Brown with Richard Brown and Gareth Lewis operating in the back row with either Fraser Hall or Rob Townsend.

Morgan also has the luxury of a full complement of replacements with Dave Hall and James Endersby providing cover for the backs while Laurence Sanderson and either Hall or Townsend are on hand to beef up the forwards.

Morgan added that the players had responded positively to last weekend's heavy defeat and is counting on them to show real character against the big-spending visitors.

"We bounced back with a good performance after the hammering at Westcombe Park back in January and I fully expect a similart sort of response tomorrow," said Morgan.
