Curzon Ashton v FC Halifax Town: In-form Curzon will be Town's biggest test yet

WITH the season barely a quarter of the way through, it may be a little early to talk of crucial games.
But Town's clash at Curzon Ashton tomorrow is certainly a pivotal one at least as far as the next few weeks are concerned.
Boss Jim Vince has always stated that promotion is his overriding priority, so while disappointed that the Shaymen have now slipped out of four of the five cups they have been competing in this term, his spirits will have been more than compensated by the recent sharp upturn in league form.
That successful revenge mission to Irongate which saw Bamber Bridge tamed was followed by a hugely impressive trouncing of a Clitheroe side who had been unbeaten since the opening day of the season.
And despite a reshuffled side going down to Wakefield in the West Riding Cup during the week, the signs are that the newly reformed side is at last settling into a winning pattern and is capable making a strong tilt at the top of the table.
However, tomorrow represents probably the biggest test to date of Town's credentials as they travel to face a more than useful Curzon Ashton team who will be in buoyant mood after seeing off Hinckley United in a penalty shoot out on Monday evening to clinch a home tie against Division Two outfit Exeter City in the FA Cup first round.
Gary Lowe's side have suffered just one defeat in their last 13 games and have won eight of those matches, so this is clearly a clash between the league's two form sides.
Curzon are very much a club on the up, having moved to the new Tameside Stadium from their old National Park home some three years ago.
And they have attracted reasonably healthy crowds for this level in recent weeks so tomorrow's game should see a big attendance and a great atmosphere.
Town will need all the class of the likes of Colin Daniel and the now permanently signed Paul Gedman to get a result, but they are on a roll and confidence is high after the Clitheroe game, so there's no reason why they can't go on and win this one.
And there is one bit of good news for the fans, win, lose or draw.
Curzon's main sponsors are bakers Greggs, so there should be a good selection of pies!
