CONTROVERSIAL former Halifax Town chairman Jim Brown has announced that he is to stand down as vice charman of Division Two side Bradford City.
As his former club fights for its life, Brown has quit his post at Valley Parade and said he has done so in order to concentrate on his business interests.

Brown, 51, joined the Bradford board in January 2005 and is credited by some Bantams fans a
s having helped save the club from financial meltdown.

However, it is believed the recent arrival of joint-chairman Mark Lawn has impacted on his role at City and is a major factor in his decision to walk away.

"My role has changed in the last 12 months," he said.

"When you've two chairmen in charge, it's not that critical. We've got new ownership now and they have their own ideas. It's time to give the new brush a chance and I wish them well."

The news comes as Halifax battle for survival with liquidation apparently inevitable and discussions over a reformed club continuing.

However, the door appears to remain open for Town as officials from organisations across the non-league pyramid have been meeting with FA officials in London this week to thrash out the make up of the various leagues.

Meetings are continuing and sources say the situation in respect of most leagues is fluid and an application from Halifax would be given full consideration.

Glen Ackroyd, of property firm A Quick Sake, deserves thanks for thinking of all those 200 ex-HTFC fans/supporters at this troubled time.

This very fine offer will give them all the chance to watch some real football now at Bradford City who have a complete stand.

Take up his offer whilst it lasts!

Rumour has it that the ex-fans-supporters will possibly be running a 15 seater mini bus to matches, at the moment there are 11 spare seats so if you want transport to Valley Parade get you name down quickly!
