TOWN dropped points for the third successive home game as they were forced to come from behind in the Yorkshire derby with Ossett Albion.
And a fiery encounter ended 10-a-side as Town's Paul Collins and Albion's Andrew Seed were dismissed in separate second half incidents.
Collins saw red in the 62nd minute after spitting at an opponent in retaliation for an alleged stamp in front of the dugout while Seed was sent off for a crude lunge on Scott Phelan.
It was that kind of game, with niggling incidents everywhere you looked.
But player assistant manager Nigel Jemson managed to rise above it all and keep his head when he fired home the equaliser with two minutes of normal time remaining.
The Shaymen had missed a hatful of first half chances before finding themselves a goal down early in the second period.
And they had lost their way before Jemson struck to claim what could be an important point.
Town could have been in front as early as the second minute after Tom Baker, Damien Allen and Cavell Coo combined well down the right.
But when the initial cross was cleared to Phelan, his shot was deflected wide for a corner.
Allen's delivery fell for Jemson whose shot was blocked, as was Paul Gedman's as he tried to capitalise on the rebound.
Town continued to dominate, but Albion keeper Neil Bennet saved from a Baker free kick and Phelan's effort from distance, after good work by Collins and Gedman, missed the target.
Despite being third in the table, Ossett offered little in attack, Allen doing well to deny Jason Bentley in the area on a rare foray forward from the visitors.
And when they did get the ball in the net, thanks to a David Syers shot, they were denied as the referee had already blown for a free kick.
The Shaymen regained the upper hand after that and had the opportunities to break through.
Coo did well down the right to skip away from his marker and crossed towards the near post only for Ashley Stott to head across goal and wide from eight yards.
Then, after good work from Baker, Gedman and Allen, Collins headed over the top on the left.
Jon Kennedy saved comfortably from Andrew Catton, who tried his luck from 25 yards before Town had one last chance for a first-half goal after Phelan had sent Baker clear down the right.
The cross was bravely defended by Dominic Riordan under pressure from Gedman, although the defender then appeared to use an arm to control the ball on the floor.
The Shaymen started the second half well with Phelan and Collins combining to set up a shooting chance for Ritchie Sutton, whose effort was shovelled round the post by the keeper.
And from the resulting Allen corner, Sutton sent a glancing header across the face of goal and wide.
Having created and missed so many chances it was almost inevitable that Town would go behind and they did after 51 minutes.
Catton got clear down the left and when he pulled the ball back for Bentley, he had the simplest of tasks to hammer home.
Baker fired over with his right foot soon after as Town looked for an immediate response.
But the game, which had a nasty undercurrent throughout, took a turn for the worse in the 62nd minute when Collins was shown his red card.
Coo's cross narrowly eluded Stott soon after and the sides were evened up by the referee in the 66th minute when substitute Andrew Seed was also dismissed for a challenge on Phelan.
Ossett should have wrapped up the points seven minutes later when Shane Kelsey lifted his shot over Kennedy, but the ball bounced wide.
And Baker responded at the other end with a shot that was pushed round the post by Bennet, with Jemson lifting a shot from the corner that followed into the keeper's arms.
Kelsey missed another gilt-edged chance to secure the win for the visitors with eight minutes remaining when he failed to beat Kennedy from 10 yards when unmarked.
And, after a Sutton shot had come back off the keeper and Stott had fired the rebound wide, Jemson made the visitors pay.
Lincoln Adams worked the ball to the left for Sutton who crossed low towards the near post and Jemson swept it home from close range.
Jemson headed at the keeper and Adams sent an effort over the top as Town searched, in vain, for the winner.
Star Shayman
So dominant were the Shaymen that the midfield had more time than it knew what to do with for most of the game.
Tom Baker made good use of it whenever he had the ball at his feet and on another day might have bagged a couple of goals.
He has skill, vision and determination in equal measure and Ossett struggled to harness him.
Nigel Jemson is a real hero with the Town fans, mainly for his cameo appearances in attack.
And, after another good stint as sweeper, he sent the supporters into raptures again with a goal two minutes from time.
Scott Phelan limped from the field with 20 minute remaining which is a real worry for eyeryone at the club.
But he did enough in 70 minutes to impress those watching and he took some fearful stick from the opposition for his trouble.
Baker takes the three points on offer in our season long competition, with Jemson two and Phelan one.
