TOWN boss Jim Vince demanded more goals from his FC Halifax Town side - and the players obliged in a seven-goal rout of Salford at the Shay.
The Shaymen struck twice inside the opening three minutes - the second from Paul Gedman whose double in the game took his tally in three games to five goals - and with the confidence rising by the minute went on to build up a 5-0 interval lead.
There was, perhaps understandably given the soaring September temperatures, a lull in the second half and, after Halifax had bagged an early sixth with Ashley Stott's second of the game, Salford scored a consolation.
But Nigel Jemson completed the rout in injury time to send the overwhelming majority of the healthy four-figure crowd home happy.
It was the kind of game in which everyone wanted a touch of the ball.
And in the first half especially, Town's passing was crisp and incisive.
They got off to a flying start with a goal after just 46 seconds of the game, Gedman crossing for Stott whose shot was blocked by Kris King before he forced it home from close range.
Barely 80 seconds later it was 2-0, Peter Moore doing well on the right hand side before pulling the ball back for Gedman who stroked the ball home from 10 yards.
Jonathan Smith fired over from 25 yards and Gedman got up well to meet a Justin Walker corner only to head narrowly wide as the Shaymen continued to pour forward.
And they were three-up after 17 minutes from a long clearance by Jon Kennedy.
Gedman jumped but was unable to get the flick as the ball sailed over his head and Stott pounced to lift his shot over the advancing keeper from 20 yards.
Smith beat two men on a run down the middle but his shot was deflected behind and both Gedman and Tony Barras had headers from the resulting Walker corner before Stott's acrobatic effort went over.
The fourth goal duly arrived midway through the first half and it was a beauty with Cavell Coo and Smith involved before Stott's shot was brilliantly saved by Martin Campbell.
But the keeper could only parry the ball to Gedman who nodded home from inside the six-yard area.
Moore was denied by the keeper 10 minutes before the break but Town did bag a fifth a couple of minutes later when, after Jon Robinson had fouled Stott, Smith's free kick was headed home by Lincoln Adams.
It took Town two minutes of the second half to get back on the goal trail after Coo had done well to win back the ball on the right and cross for Stott who had a simple tap in.
Stott could have completed his hat-trick three minutes later when Campbell's attempted clearance landed at his feet, but his first-time shot from 25 yards never threatened the empty net.
As has been the pattern in games this season, Town were never as fluent in the second period as they had been in the first but still looked the more threatening of the two sides.
Coo and Gedman combined to get the ball on to Moore whose shot was well saved by the keeper and Danny Ellis just failed to head the rebound goalwards.
Smith then caught Campbell by surprise with an effort from distance and the keeper did well to turn the ball round the post for a corner.
A Paul Ennis shot that deflected off King forced Jon Kennedy into a 76th-minute save - his first of the entire game.
But the visitors did manage to get through the Town defence with nine minutes remaining when Ennis - their best player by a mile - got away down the Salford left and pulled the ball back for Reece Kelly who finished well.
Ellis tested the City keeper with a shot from Steve Payne's free kick as the Shaymen looked for a strong finish and Danny White cleared easily from Gedman as he looked for his hat-trick.
Substitute Jemson forced Campbell into a fine save that resulted in a stoppage time corner.
And Town's assistant player manager profited from the ball delivered in by Smith to complete the scoring when he nodded home Town's seventh goal of the afternoon.

STAR SHAYMAN
Town's players finally came good at the Shay on Saturday as they systematically took a poor Salford City team apart.
And it was strike duo Paul Gedman and Ashley Stott who shared the limelight with a couple of goals each.
Gedman was the focal point of much that was good about Town's forward play as he flicked on and held up the ball as and when required.
He also took his goals well, the first was a cool finish the second was a real opportunist strike from close range.
Stott had a simple tap in for his second, but his first - and Town's third - was a real peach.
It was all about instinct as he took up possession 30 yards from goal, sensed the keeper off his line and fired into the unguarded net.
Peter Moore goes from strength to strength in the middle of the park after another impressive display.
Not afraid to put his foot in, he also showed a good range of passing as the Shaymen dominated, especially in the first half.

PLAYER POINTS
Jonathan Smith 10, Paul Gedman 8, Junior Brown 7, Peter Moore 6, Ashley Stott 5, Adam Morning 4, Jon Kennedy 3, Steve Payne 3, Lincoln Adams 3, Cavell Coo 3, Nigel Jemson 2, Craig Smith 2, Justin Walker 2, Phil Senior 1, Luke Hinsley 1.

Agree George - with the game done and dusted by half time, it's a no-brainer to conserve energy for forthcoming games.

7-1 - fantastic scorline, and well done The Shaymen for a brilliant and professional performance.
