DANNY Davidson is set to be included in the FC Halifax Town squad for tonight's Unibond League Division One North trip to Mossley (7.45).
The former Harrogate Railway striker trained with the squad at the weekend and has signed non contract forms with the club.
And boss Jim Vince is hoping that Davidson takes his chance with the Shaymen.
"Danny is with us for the foreseeable future," said Vince. "He looked okay in training and came through the full session. We will give him an opportunity. If he takes it, great."
Davidson, who shot to fame in last season's FA Cup with the North Yorkshire side, trained with his new teammates on Saturday when Town were without a game.
But he might have to settle for a place on the bench tonight if Vince goes with the striker partnership that faced Silsden five days ago.
Ashley Stott opened his account with a double at Cougar Park while Junior Brown impressed again.
And Jonathan Smith also bagged his first of the season as Town completed a morale boosting 3-1 win.
Tony Barras also trained at the weekend but is unlikely to feature tonight when Town's defence will have to be at their best to cope with an attacking Mossley outfit.
"I know Mossley manager Chris Willcock and he has built a decent team," said Vince, who watched tonight's opponents beat Salford 4-0 on Saturday.
"They are very offensive and play with two out and out wingers.
"It will be a completely different test to Silsden but for me it is not about the opposition it is about us.
"We have to show the same desire and willingness to work that we showed in our last game."
Vince used Saturday's session to assess the fitness of his squad, something he would have liked to have done back in August.
"If we'd have had a full pre-season we would have done it then," said Vince. "But we have been three weeks behind everyone else.
"Now we have done it and it gives us an indication of where they are and it gives the players a benchmark then can improve from."
Simon Wood, a well known figure in local cricketing circles, is likely to be in Mossley's line-up.
The 23-year-old right back, who lives at Pye Nest, plays for Halifax Cricket League top flight side SBCI, this year's beaten Parish Cup finalists.
Wood is an ex-Halifax Town youth team player and youth team coach who was released by the Shaymen in early 2004
