TONY Lennon believes the players in Jim Vince's FC Halifax Town squad should feel privileged to be involved in the re-birth of the club.
Lennon was one of the first raft of players unveiled by the new Shay boss last week along with Neil Ross, Ross Clegg, Matt Woolley, Dorryl Proffitt and Adam Morning.

Steve Payne, Tony Barras and Phil Senior have since joined that list.

And former Harrogate Town and Buxton winger Lennon is clearly excited by the prospect of getting Halifax back on the footballing map.

"It is a fresh start for everyone," he said. "It feels like a big opportunity.

"It is a big club and a chance for us to be the ones who get it off the ground and back to where it should be.

"We feel privileged to be given the opportunity to come and play here.

"It is a great stadium and it is a great chance for us all to do well.

"But everyone will want to come and beat us just because of the ground and the club's reputation."

With the squad growing all the time Lennon, the brother of Spurs and England winger Aaron, believes Town can do well in their first season in the Unibond League Division One North.

"Most players here have played Unibond Premier or Conference North and some have played in the League.

"I think there will be enough to do really well - there is no reason why not.

"There are a few more on the way and we will have a good squad."

"The boys are gelling together really well.

"Most of the players know somebody else so it has been easy for them to settle.

"The manager has a great positive attitude and everyone it up for it and looking to the start of the season."

great news LFCRED- hope you're serious,if so spread the word.

Refreshing to hear someone call it a big club and a great stadium, hope it's the same Shay stadium that we know and not that yankee field he's got mixed up with?

Up the Shaymen

great atitude LFCRED if you are serious, more people should follow suit and instead of supporting the big boys from their armchair pop down to their local team where their support is valued much much more.

Well thats the support sorted out, how will the team on the pitch perform ? and the team paying the taxman, the only chance of a future is to sort the finances out !

I mean paying the taxman in the future, we don't want this summers farce to happen again in 2010, just as England win the World cup for the second time.
