FC Halifax Town boss Jim Vince is not expecting to make wholesale changes to his side for tonight's trip to Trafford (7.45).
But the Shay chief will switch things round in a bid to ensure there is no repeat of Saturday's massively disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Bamber Bridge.

"The players had something of a rude awakening on Saturday," said Vince., "And there were some home truths.

"I won't give up on players after one half performance in which they did not do themselves justice."

"We lost the game, but you don't lose the league in the opening game.

"But every player has to perform to the levels they are capable of achieving."

To that end, Vince is looking for his players to take a leaf out of Bamber Bridge's book as they prepare for their first away game of the Unibond League Division One North campaign.

"They had desire and passion and we need to get that into our game," he said.

Vince has added left-sided 23-year-old Craig Smith, a former Manchester City youngster, to his squad for this evening's game.

But he has released Ben Jones after one substitute appearance

And he will have to do without former Wigan product Paul Moore who also featured as a substitute against Bamber Bridge.

Moore has joined League Two newcomers Exeter City for a week's trial, although a return to the Shay has not been ruled out.

"We knew about Peter's trial and he has been handed an opportunity," said Vince. "If that does not work out for him, he has a home here."

Tony Barrass is out of tonight's game through injury and is due to undergo surgery today to cure his knee problem. Vince said he expected the club skipper to be sidelined for a further two to three weeks.

Trafford, last season's North West Counties League champions, drew at Chorley in their first game of the campaign at the weekend.

"They started with a good draw and have a good pitch," said Vince.

"I expect them to play football - that is why they won the league last season. But if we are right, we will be okay."

Give over, Chreee - United fans have braincells, lives and passion about footy.....don't compare dimwit-warrior to them.

Expecting a stronger game today, against a weaker opposition.

hopefully will be a good result tonight, should feel like a home game anyway with the amount of town fans making the trip

Old Warrior - You are a boring moron, shut the 'eff' up and back the team. One loss means nothing, it's the final position at the end of the season that is important.

The efforts by Halifax football supports to keep football in this town over the years should give pride to anyone who lives here, they are a credit to the town through there will to continue showing what is positive about being human. I wish some of the knockers would reflect on some of there comments as they sadly show the downside of being human, particularly when so much effort and energy comes from Halifax football supporters.

Pride to anyone !!! you must be joking - its football thats the joke.

How on earth are they a credit to the town. They are first in the queue to take credit and never pay for it.

Effort and energy going into all this - don't make me laugh
