FC Halifax Town: Vince set to ring the changes

JIM Vince will take advantage of tomorrow's trip to Alsager Town to have a look at some of the players who have yet to start a match for FC Halifax Town.
All of the contracted outfield players have been given lengthy chances to acclimatise themselves to their new surroundings against Tamworth and Bury on the past seven days.
And the Shay chief will use the game against the North West Counties first division outfit to cast his eye over some of the trialists who have featured in pre-season.
"Some of the senior players won't play tomorrow," said Vince. "But they will still work hard with us.
"We will plan for the game to give some of those who need 90 minutes a game.
"That will give me an indication of how they perform in a full game.
"Yet again I am not bothered about the scoreline.
"It is about picking the right players, the ones who will complement the way we play."
Vince's squad is certainly making progress with Tuesday's performance against Bury a real step up from last weekend's game at Tamworth.
"Week in week out it is about making sure we do things a little bit better," said Vince. "The next training session will be a little bit harder, a little bit more technical.
"And if we progress to the levels we should, we are going to have a good team this year and should do well."
The most senior player in Vince's squad is Tony Barass, the central defender he has brought with him from Witton Albion.
Barras played more than 500 League games in a career that included spells at York City, Walsall and Stockport County.
And his partnership with Steve Payne is likely to provide a solid base from which Halifax can build.
Barras played his first game at the Shay for many years against Bury in midweek and was stunned by the reception the team got from a crowd over more that 1,000.
"The last time I played at the Shay the bike track was still round it," he said.
"It was absolutely amazing. When you see a crowd you want to perform for them, especially when you are the home side.
"Hopefully it will spur the lads on.
"There are one or two young lads in the squad so we will have to bring them on until they get their confidence up."
With a little more than three weeks to go before the season opener against Bamber Bridge at the Shay, Barras added that things were going well for the new club.
"It is an adventure for the club," he said. "Hopefully we will do well and get promoted straight away.
"That is what we are looking to do.
"We did all right at Tamworth and Tuesday was a big improvement on that."
Vince is likely to take his whole squad to Alsager with those not involved in the game working on their fitness after the game.
