The Shay frontman, who is still under contract at Halifax despite the club's increasingly uncertain future, bagged the opener as England C beat Barbados 2-0 at the National Stadium in Bridgetown.

Shaw, starting his first match of a brief Caribbean tour, put Paul Fairclough's side ahead after 16 minute when the ball deflected off his shoulder from a Russell Penn cross that had initially struck a Barbadian defender.

Shaw almost turned provider soon after with a great run down the left wing which ended in a cross for Penn who was denied by the home keeper.

Shaun Harrad had an effort disallowed for offside before the break, and Michael Morrison struck the woodwork with a header before England made the game safe with 15 minutes remaining, Penn rifling home from the edge of the area from a half cleared corner.

Harrad could have made it 3-0 late on, but his shot came back off the post.

Shaw will now return to these shores with his England teammates to await Town's fate.

The next milestone for the club will be Saturday's Conference agm at which their expulsion is expected to be rubber stamped.

The FA's league committee is scheduled to meet on Monday when it will decide the fate of the Shaymen - among a number of other clubs.

The Conference meeting on Saturday is expected to expel Boston United and Nuneaton Borough, who have also fallen foul of the league's rules on club finances, from Blue Square North.

The Conference claim Boston have broken regulations concerning administration and are believed to be ready to demote them to the UniBond League.

Boston have lodged an appeal with the FA who will decide the fate of the Pilgrims.

Nuneaton announced that they had gone bust earlier this week and are also set to be thrown out of the Conference set up.
