IN any other circumstances a point against the champions would be regarded as a good thing.
But Town deserved so much more as they took the game to Aldershot and carved out a series of good chances.

The Shots had opportunities themselves in a thoroughly entertaining game.
But entertainment is not the number one priority at the moment and the result leaves Town still in the bottom four with just a couple of games - at Crawley tomorrow and at home to Stevenage on Saturday - remaining.
The good thing is that if they replicate this performance in the last two games they have every chance of finishing above the dotted line.
Town made their attacking intent known in the opening 15 minutes, but Rob Gier got back to deny Lewis Killeen a shooting chance, Simon Heslop's effort was saved by Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz and Jon Shaw fired high and wide after being forced right by Anthony Charles.
All the Shots could muster in the opening quarter were a couple of Ryan Williams free kicks, both of which curled off target.
But they showed what they could do in open play in the 26th minute when Ben Harding glanced a Scott Donnelly cross narrowly wide of goal and John Grant might have done better from close range as he guided the ball into Adam Legzdins' arms from a Donnelly corner.
In between, Town had the chance of the first half when a Santos Gaia free kick got past Charles and reached Darryn Stamp who struck his shot well enough only to see Jaimez-Ruiz tip it over the bar.
The Shaymen went on to finish the first half with a flourish as the outstanding Tom Kearney crossed from the right for Stamp, whose volley was blocked for a corner.
Kearney then tried his luck from the right, but his left foot shot flew wide.
And when Anthony Griffith picked out Stamp on the edge of the area in stoppage time, he chested down for Killeen, whose shot was saved by the keeper.
There was more of the same at the start of the second half as the Shaymen opened quickly.
Griffith was again involved within 40 seconds of the restart, playing the ball in for Killeen to the right of goal.
He helped it on to Stamp whose header beat the keeper only for Donnelly to acrobatically hook the ball off the line.
Stamp had a couple more headed chances after that, the first from a Danny Forrest cross and the second from a Shaw delivery, but both landed in Jaimez-Ruiz's arms.
A double substitution sparked Aldershot into life just before the hour mark with Kirk Hudson crossing for Joel Grant, whose shot was somehow kept out by the legs of Legzdins.
John Grant then had a chance gift-wrapped by the Town keeper as he failed to control a Jake Wright back pass.
Former Town frontman Grant nicked the ball away from Legzdins but, inexplicably, took a second touch which forced him wide on the left with the goal gaping.
He crossed back in but neither Joel Grant nor Rob Elkins could get the ball past the recovering Halifax defence.
There was similar drama at the other end three minutes later, Shaw having a header from Kearney's cross saved by the keeper before Killeen's shot on the rebound was blocked on the line.
Town kept pressing with Jaimez-Ruiz parrying a Daryl Taylor shot, and Andy Campbell crossing from the left only for the ball to sail over Taylor's head.
In between, Legzdins had to race to the edge of his area as Hudson threatened to make something out of Joel Grant's well-timed through ball.
Town's fans must have thought it was going to be their team's day when Heslop played the ball through for Shaw with just three minutes remaining, but the leading scorer was beaten by the pitch as the ball failed to roll for him as he took it into the Aldershot area.
And as the seconds ticked away it was the Shaymen who continued to create the openings with Charles blocking from Campbell and Adam Quinn getting good contact on a Wright free kick but the ball was plucked out of the air by the keeper.

STAR SHAYMAN
Considering what was at stake, it was a remarkably open game at the Shay on Saturday.
And for that reason Adam Quinn had to be at his best in the heart of the Town defence.
He pulled off a couple of timely interceptions to deny former teammate John Grant the opportunity to get through on goal and distributed well when he won possession.
Tom Kearney gave an all action display in midfield, where the Shaymen just about had the edge.
There has never been any denying his passing ability and that was spot on again.
He also delivered several fine set pieces and his tackling was tenacious as he battled to get the Shaymen going forward.
Adam Legzdins had a hairy moment when he passed the ball straight to John Grant midway through the second half.
But otherwise his handling was excellent and he made a couple of great saves, notably from Aldershot substitutes Joel Grant and Kirk Hudson.
Quinn takes the three points on offer in our season-long competition with Kearney taking two and Legzdins one.
